Lovebirds | How did you two meet?
Kelly: We met briefly at a bar with mutual friends. I had an instant crush and even
interrogated my friends to see if I could get more info about him, but nothing really
happened between us that evening.
Blaine: A few weekends later I noticed Kelly at The Red Room with a strange bunch of
characters. Kelly approached me soon after I arrived and asked me if I would pretend to
be her boyfriend, as she didn’t like the current company she was in. I agreed and
surprisingly stuck with this arrangement until today. It did not take long to notice she was my other half, and after 7 years she agreed to be my wife.
I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?
Blaine organised a romantic surprise proposal at the Walter Sizulu Botanical gardens,
including bubbly, strawberries dipped in chocolate and other culinary delights. He waited
anxiously at the top of a stairwell and got down on one knee after his younger sister led
me to him under the guise that I was going to give her a photography class there for the
morning.
The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?
We had a very laid back ceremony and the marriage officer organised for all of the guest
to recite lines from Dr. Zeus to us as the ceremony begun. We both really enjoyed the
whole ceremony. Our first dance was also a great experience. We had been going for
dance classes and we got lost in a few steps very early in, but we managed to continue
without a pause and it made the dance that much more special because we got to share
the moment together.

Don’t be afraid to bend the rules when planning your wedding. There is no set menu for
how a wedding needs to pan out so the more personal you make it the more it will mean
to you and your guests on the day.
